Anyone can beat the credit crisis and save money while still having a beautifully decorated house over the Xmas period. Here are some ideas for a creative Christmas.
With the credit crunch in full swing, many people are thinking of ways to economise on the expensive business of buying Christmas presents and greeting cards. Festive trees and decorations are also a part of Christmas celebrations, but they too can prove very expensive. But during these difficult economic times, there are ways to have them at far less cost. Here's how to have a cheap Christmas this year. Buy Cheaper Trees and Decorations Christmas trees and decorations are often updated, so these are items that turn up regularly at car boot sales, in pound shops, on Ebay, and similar places. For anyone who has to buy trees or decorations, it is well worth shopping around, not just going to the first high street store one comes across – which may well have inflated prices at this time of year. Use Last Year’s Decorations for an Inexpensive Christmas Many people save decorations, yet either don’t remember where they put them or can’t find them. Now is the time to have a good search, and find these items and use them again. Some individuals buy new Christmas lights, when all they need to do is replace one bulb; it is worth checking before spending money unnecessarily. Neighbours may also have old decorations that they do not want; it is worth checking before buying anything new. Find or Cut a Christmas Tree Rather that Buy One...a Creative Christmas Is it necessary for a Christmas Tree to be that traditional fir tree? If not, some people may find they have something in the garden which is suitable, which can be brought indoors and replanted after Christmas. In rural areas, others may find that they can obtain their own Christmas tree, by cutting down an unwanted small tree or bush, or digging it up…though obviously this is not suitable in some places. Making One’s Own DecorationsChristmas decorations can be easily made. Branches, twigs, and holly can be collected and made into wreaths, and the addition of gold and silver paint can make something quite stunning. Children enjoy making Christmas decorations of all types, and far prefer paper chains they have put together themselves to expensive shop bought items. If young people are provided with paper and foil, they will often make some quite stunning creations, so try this before buying anything new and expensive. All these things are not only economical buy enjoyable, and provide ways for the family to spend time together in the true spirit of Christmas.
