How to Locate Cape Town Charity ShopsFinding Bargains in the Claremont /Kenilworth Area
The Claremont-Kenilworth area of Cape Town is home to several excellent charity shops. It is particularly good source for second-hand books and collectables.
Buying from charity shops is not only a good way to help the less fortunate. It is also a great way to save money, and can turn up unexpected treasures. Oasis Association – Helping People with Intellectual DisabilitiesStart at the corner of Lee and Lansdowne Roads in Claremont. Here you’ll find the Oasis Association, which helps people with intellectual disabilities. Their charity shop is spotlessly clean and ordered. Goods are sorted and carefully arranged. They have good quality books, some vintage clothing, interesting retro kitchenware and china, and only quality collectables. Prices are not as low as many charity shops, but goods still go at around one third of what you’d expect to pay in an antique shop. It’s open Mon. to Fri. 9 am – 4 pm, and first Saturday of the month from 9 am – 1 pm.
